Our Dental Provider's Bios
Dr. Nazim Shahi, DMD - Dental Director
Dr. Nazim Shahi completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He pursued his dental studies at Boston University's Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and graduated with honors in 2009. He then completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Texas A&M Health Science Center in Dallas, Texas and received his certificate in 2010. Dr. Shahi is a proud member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Capital Area Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and Mensa. Committed to life-long learning, Dr. Shahi spends numerous hours each year in continuing education courses to further his knowledge of dentistry and oral medicine including Texas Health Steps certification for First Dental Home providers to take care of the dental needs of children under 3. He is actively pursuing fellowship status with the academy of General Dentistry and hopes to achieve that distinction this year. He resides in southwest Austin with his wife, son and daughter. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and is an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns.
Dr. James Michael Lloyd, DDS
Dr. Lloyd received his BS degree in Biology in 1979 from Memphis State University, DDS Degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1981, and his MSD in Pediatric Dentistry in 1986. During his time at Baylor he was a part time Assistant Clinical Professor in Pediatric Dentistry and conducted research in pulp therapy from 1982- 1986. His research has been published in several dental journals. Dr. Lloyd enjoyed private practice in Arlington, Texas, from 1983-2014. Through the years he has enjoyed 4-wall handball, fishing, golfing, cooking, painting, gardening, and traveling with friends and family.
Dr. Laurie Kane, DDS
Dr. Laurie Kane received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 2006. While at USC, she consistently achieved the Dean's List each semester and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, which is awarded to the top 10% of the class. Dr. Laurie Kane also completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at the University of California Los Angeles in 2007.
Since 2010, Dr. Kane has limited her practice to pediatric patients. She finds it rewarding to treat patients of an impressionable age and create positive experiences for her patients, which can change the outlook of dental visits for a lifetime. Her goal ist to provide the best dental care possible while emphasizing patient care and comfort.
Dr. Kane is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Capital Area Dental Society and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Outside of the office, Dr. Kane enjoys scrapbooking, hiking, reading, and spending time with her husband and family.
Dr. David Panahi, DDS
Dr. David attended the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He has been a dentist for years and has been through several post graduate courses in different fields of dentistry since receiving his D.D.S. degree in 2006. Dr. Panahi also proudly served the United States army for several years as Captain prior to working in private practice. Dr. Panahi is certified in sedation, both conscious nitrous oxided sedation and oral sedation. His associations have included the Texas Dental Association, Captial Area Dental Associations, and the American Dental Association (ADA). His emphasis on patient comfort as well as keeping up-to-date with the latest advancements in dentistry enable him to provide his patients with the best quality of care in the field. Dr. Panahi has a wide range of experience in different areas of dentistry, from cosmetic and restorative dentistry to pediatrics.

- Completed state of Texas health steps certification course for the first dental home (course on education parents on dental needs with children under 3 years old)
- Completed courses in level 1 and leve 2 entral sedation and awarded certificate
- Awarded excellance in clinical dentistry award from UTHSCSA dental school in 2006
Dr. David has a wife Lauren and daughters named Paris and Nicole. Lauren, a native Texas, is also a pharmacy professor for Texas A&M College of Pharmacy at the Round Rock campus.
In his free time Dr. David enjoys walking at the Lakeway city park with his family and cocker spaniel on the track, attending church activities, and bass fishing. Dr. David has been fishing actively since he was a child growing up in New Mexico and competes in many fishing tournaments as well.
