Our Founders' Bios
Glenn G. Wood, M.D.
Dr. Wood is the Medical Director of Carousel Pediatrics. He has practiced Pediatric and Adolescent care in Austin, Texas since 1984, where he has cared for countless indigent children and seen firsthand the practical problems families face in the 21st Century.
After graduating from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1979, Dr. Wood completed a residency in Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Children's Medical Center in Dallas in 1982.
Dr. Wood also completed a Master in Philosophy degree from the University of Texas in 1986 and a Master of Public Health degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1999. Dr. Wood has taught courses in medical ethics at the University of Texas in both the Humanities and the Philosophy Departments. He also holds a clinical faculty position for the University Texas Medical School in Galveston and the Graduate School of Nursing at the University of Texas.
Board certified in Pediatrics, Dr. Wood previously served as the Chief of Pediatrics at South Austin Medical Center prior to founding Carousel Pediatrics. He is the author of Growing Up: A Child and Adolescent Health Guide (1997) and The AIDS Epidemic: Balancing Compassion and Justice (1990), as well as coauthor of several articles in peer-review journals. Dr. Wood has contributed to the Encyclopedia of Ethics, written articles published in more than 700 newspapers in 45 countries and given interviews for more than 300 radio stations worldwide.
Barry Levinson
His co-founding of Carousel Pediatrics is the latest in Mr.
Levinson’s history of visionary business endeavors in healthcare and
technology.
Mr. Levinson has over 22 years experience in starting and running
successful businesses, backed by his strong financial skills, strategic
leadership and his commitment to his community. He is passionate about
helping others, from clients to patients to employees, and much of his
business success is based on his commitment to finding the right people
for the right positions.
Prior to founding Carousel Pediatrics with Dr. Wood, Mr. Levinson was
founder and president of Advanced Document Technologies, a service to
simplify the dictation and transcription process for medical doctors in
private practice and hospital settings. He also founded XL International,
a software consulting company that developed numerous analytical and
database software solutions to help manage healthcare databases, enroll
patients and measure the quality and effectiveness of care.
In addition to his success in healthcare and medical industries, Mr. Levinson has also developed solutions for electronics, oil & gas and industrial clients; founded successful online retail businesses; co-created and co-owned an advanced recycling and reprocessing facility; and created one of Houston’s largest vacant home property management companies.
Mr. Levinson holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, with a minor in Engineering Economics.
